WASHINGTON,
DC
Over
a half century ago, on a particularly hot August night
in Springfield, Massachusetts, a woman gave birth
to the son that would cause her no end of problems...
"I’m tellin’ you, that youngin’ just wasn’t
normal! As
far back as I can recollect, that Tommy would
spend all his free time just a-drawin’
them pictures with his crayons. The
way he was scribblin’ all the time,
I knew even then that somethin’ alien had
taken over that boy’s mind!" recalls
Charlotte Shultz, a native of Clarksburg, West Virginia.
“Some people think it was the telephone Tommy pulled
down on his head when he was a baby that caused him
to be so strange, but I swear it must of been the
work of some of them aliens!’
Mrs.
Shultz explains, “You know, I married an Air Force man
named Shultz, and so we was living on an air base at
the time I was pregnant with Tommy. It must have made
it easy for visitors from outer space to pick him for
one of their weird experiments.
Maybe to see if a human being could stand the test of
raising an alien child or some other mean joke?’
Shaking
her head she remembers, “Hell, before he was two years
old he used a broom handle to unhook the chain lock
on the front door and ran off down the street in his
pajamas! The day Tommy escaped his playpen I just sat
down and cried, ’cause I knew I’d never get another
minute’s rest!”
